Friendsgiving is a great way to get all of your friends together in one place, regardless of busy schedules or being at different colleges. Though the most importnat thing is that you are all together, having a killer party doens’t hurt. Here are 10 Friendsgiving ideas to make your party a success.
Send Out Cute Invites
Sure you can just send a Facebook invite or a group text, but there’s something fun and special about sending invites the old fashion way that makes things seem way more fancy and official. You can make your own on Canva or purchase them yourself. I love these ones from Etsy.
Plan Who’s Brining What
An easy way to do Friendsgiving is to have each person bring a dish. This is defiantly something you want to plan ahead of time. The last thing you want is to have five people bring sides of broccoli…well, unless broccoli is your thing then go for it. Some ideas include: potatoes, veggies, dinner rolls, appetizers, dessert, drinks, stuffing and turkey (duh!).
To make it easier on you, assign who brings what rather than giving your guests the option. This just makes things easier and leaves less room for error like duplicates and missing dishes. Obviously be strategic when doing this. You wouldn’t want to give someone who can barely make Ramen noodles the task of making the Turkey.
Have a Signature Drink
Having a signature cocktail adds such a fun touch to a party. You can never go wrong with apple cider mimosas or apple cider sangria. Simply mix apple cider with your alcohol of choice and garnish with fresh apples. Boom.Done.Easy.
Plan Some Activities
You don’t need to go all out and have every single second planned with something to do. Besides, your guests would much rather prefer you didn’t anyways. I have a post coming out soon with some amazing ideas for this so stay tuned for that!
Think of a Drinking Game to Play
If you are of age, a drinking game is always an easy way to make sure people have a good time. Plan it around something like the Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Thanksgiving football games, or the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
Decorate
There are two ways you can do this. One, go all out and make the place look super bouje, or be bouje on a budget. If you’re anything like me, your going for the budget option.
In that case, focus on the decorations for the table since that’s were the main event happens. DIY a center piece, make some cute cards and tmaybe add a cute little wreath to the backs of the chairs. Don’t be afraid to check out the dollar store to see if you can score any good finds. If you strike out, you can always count on JoAnn Fabrics, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby for some affordable DIY décor. Make sure you always always always check for coupons first! You can almost guarantee to find a 20-40% off coupon for each of these stores.
Have Enough Supplies
If you are choosing to use items like paper plates and plastic utensil’s, make sure you have enough. I totally understand not wanting to worry about doing all the dishes, but it’s important you don’t run out of forks before the turkey even hits the table. This dinnerware set is a good deal considering it’s for 25 guests.
Take the Time to Share What You Are Grateful For
Of all Friendsgiving ideas, this one is a must. It’s easiest to do when you’re sitting down for dinner, but if things start to get a little slow during the party this will pick things up. Simply gather everyone together and have each person share what they are thankful for.
Make a Playlist
Maybe I’m just extra, but having some fall music playing in the background especially as guests arrive really is a vibe. If you don’t want to make your own, just search Autumn Jazz in Spotify or YouTube and you are good to go.
Set Up a Cute Spot for Photos
This may be a little 2015, but it’s still cute! This friendsgiving balloon banner would be the perfect backdrop and it also doubles as décor. These tacky photo props are also too cute to pass up.
